The work proposes the requalification and improvement of
the José Carlos Pace Speedway , better known as Interlagos Speedway , which is located in the south of the city of São Paulo. We will s tart from the current survey of the race track ,
develop new facilities such as : hotel, convention center, museum, technology center / school, trades and al so the improvement of specific areas .
Under s tand the features , make the equipment avai lable to
the city , generate income, attract new events and roll out
a new design with current technologies .

At first Interlagos had been intended to be a satellite city in which, in addition to a racetrack, it would have infrastructure such as joint commercial residences, hotel, church and other establishments.
The original program emerged in the mid-1920s by English engineer Louis Romero Sanson, who had a real estate strategy for the southern region of the capital. With the participation of Alfred Agache, the French urban planner suggested naming the region “Interlagos”, as it is located between two dams in the city of São Paulo, Billings and Guarapiranga and is very similar to the Interlaken region in Switzerland, according to Louis and Alfred.
However, the project suffered a pause during the great crisis of 1929 and only began to gain strength after the second half of the 1930s, during this period São Paulo began its first international motorsport races, which were held in the city's streets and avenues.
In 1936, the city received its first grand prize, which was marked by an unfortunate tragedy that, as a result of this fact, the project for a safe and controlled track gained momentum and once again the creation of the interlago racecourse came into focus. Autodromo José Carlos Pace located in the district of Cidade Dutra, in the city of São Paulo, Brazil.
With an area of 901,617.40 m2 in the district of Cidade Dutra, Capela do Socorro Subprefecture, South Zone of São Paulo, about 17 km away in a straight line from Praça da Sé, landmark zero of the Capital.

Interlagos -the plane
Given all the foundation, surveys and analyses, the first step was to create a mass plan to distribute the intended uses to the land in a uniform and strategic way.
The most challenging part was choosing spaces that have a location that does not cause interference on the track and that have possible access, without interference in the Interlagos route.
The most challenging part was choosing spaces that have a location that does not cause interference on the track and that have possible access, without interference in the Interlagos route.
Then, the location of each equipment, its respective use and application of the program was refined.
The form of its implementation was speculated, but not defined, however, making program and circulation connections within the race track.
The form of its implementation was speculated, but not defined, however, making program and circulation connections within the race track.
As a result of this phase, the project results in the creation of the following buildings:
Hotel: to serve tourists, athletes, coaching staff, world press, motorsport enthusiasts and the general public.
Convention Center: its main function is to host conventions focused on the world of motorsport and other themes.
Technological Center: outside thinking about the character of instigating the development of automobile equipment in the country and also opening society by offering incentives and support, with classrooms and laboratories aimed at training and learning for society.
Museum: located next to the Technological Center with the intention of creating a memorial of history and homage to national motorsport, as well as honoring athletes and promoting public access to culture.
Shopping center: It was intended to create fruition and permeability in the entire façade facing Avenida Interlagos, which currently has a wall on almost its entire façade, in addition to contributing to the commercial and financial development of the region.
Micro uses: are intended to bring diversified activities, make the racecourse a place of democratic use that opens its space to society in general, not just for motorsport events and other events.
After defining the areas of interest regarding the program footage, the definition of these areas was deepened and also bringing Micro-uses to the study.
These Micro uses are given by small equipment scattered throughout the racecourse in order to bring the use to all parts of the complex, some of these uses will only be available on days without movement or events, thus extending the current walking program at the racecourse to a system with greater diversity of activities available and also more comprehensive.

The program is then applied to form, in a first study of form and function.
Definitive Project
The proposed project for the racecourse aims to reach crucial points for its improvement, they are the elaboration of a hotel that will host tourists from all over the world who come every year to watch Formula 1 and other events such as LollaPalooza and also to host from pilots, teams, artists, and the general public.
The convention center project intends to combine the use of tracks and other equipment to provide conventions focused on the theme of motorsport and, among others, aiming at events such as the Auto Show and Salão Duas Rodas, which are big events in the city of São Paulo and do everything the nexus of being at the birthplace of motorsport in Brazil, which is Interlagos.
The technology center, on the other hand, aims to house and develop technologies from the world of motorsport, thus following the reference of the iconic racecourse in Nürburg, Germany, where practically all the new technologies of the automobile world pass through there, interlagos being a racecourse with a challenging and very dynamic layout providing high performance testing.
The technology center will have spaces specially designed for the local population to teach courses and classes, as the racecourse has a great influence on its surroundings.
The museum is connected to the technological center since both are interconnected to generate a cultural space for teaching and contemplation, the museum intends to honor great names in world motorsport.
The part dedicated to commerce is based on serving not only the public on an event day, but also the population that transits Av interlagos, which has a large flow on event days and also on normal days, being one of the main locomotion axes of the extreme. south of sp thus bringing financial stability to the racecourse and making it generate income on more monotonous and low-traffic days.
The sector for the local population is based on "micro-uses" that will be divided into small equipment along the route, namely: velodrome, skate park, bike path, among others distributed along the racecourse, thus connecting all points of the racecourse. complex and also making the same available to the people who live there.

Architecture and its craft connected with the
creativity become more than the idea of
designing spaces for people is the most consistent
expression of creation where forms and ideas, making it possible to always create more and never
equal.
I believe that this valuable profession is the most challenging and fulfilling of all, because the
possibility of creating spaces and feelings with the shape is what makes architecture a benchmark
exceptional possibilities, learning constant and challenges which time and space
they mold and transform the various segments of the area, offering conditions to create,
recreate, interpret and act transforming the environment.
Designing the upgrade for such a place important for Brazilians and for the world as
the Autodromo de Interlagos was an honor, with the race track project it was possible to develop, create,
feel and understand how much a piece of equipment of this size can positively influence the environment
and in the city as a whole.
Improving is also empowering, keeping alive the feeling of having such an iconic place so close, full
of stories and deeds, keeping your memory alive was a factor in great motivation for the realization of this project.
The expansion process of creation was the guiding thread of the entire process, a relevant factor that inspired the field of ideas to create. Throughout the course and this work,
as well as at each step overcome and solutions found for a meaningful representation of an idea to be
applied to the existing one was simply charming.
I find the creation process exciting, a unique opportunity to remember that we live in a
fantastic world with infinite possibilities of transform time and space throughout our lives.
I believe that architecture and its entire process transformer can make a difference to society,
creating places and turning dreams into reality.
Today, even more convinced of the transformative potential of this profession, I greatly value the principles
architectural ethics, the value of uniqueness that art represents and its power to change the world and people for the best.
